If You Already Have a Gmail Account (Google Workspace Users)

How are Gmail and Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) different?
Google Workspace includes Gmail and several other tools. While you can continue to use your own Gmail account if you like, it will be completely separate from your Google Workspace account.
Your own personal Gmail account will also include advertising. Your Google Workspace account will not have any advertising until you leave the university.

If you have a personal Google account associated with your cornell.edu email address, the first time you sign in to any Google product after you are provisioned with a Google Workspace account, you'll be prompted to resolve the conflict between accounts. We recommend removing the association between your Cornell address and your non-Google Workspace account.
Google has a help page describing your choices for resolving the multiple account situation.
