Image shows a tear between username and password fields

I just need more security.

Expect to see a change in how you log in to your secure services with CUWebLogin this fall. Rather than entering your NetID and password on one screen, you will enter your NetID and then your password on a second screen. You will recognize this process: it is the same way you sign in to web-based Microsoft products such as Outlook on the web, a Google account, Amazon, and many other commercial services.

But why, Username, why?

This small shift will yield some important benefits. For those using phones, it simplifies the login process on smaller screens. Ultimately, it will also align the login experience across the global Cornell community, making it easier for cross-campus collaborations with Weill Cornell and other groups.

Is this really the end of our relationship?

Ultimately, you may see passwords disappear entirely. It’s a shift happening everywhere; with banks, email accounts, subscriptions, any site that may store your important and personal data. But for the near future, your CUWebLogin will still offer a password.

Here's a preview of the updated login screens.

Note: the look may change slightly between now and later this fall.

The password box will no longer appear on the first login screen

Once you click Continue you will see the password (or passkey) option.

The password (or passkey) option will appear on the following page
