How Often Will I Be Prompted to Log In to Microsoft 365 Apps

Microsoft 365 uses Microsoft Azure authentication and will rarely prompt you to authenticate using Two-Step Login.

On Tuesday, April 28, CIT will implement an updated, more secure version of Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) for Microsoft applications on desktop and the web. Learn more about what to expect with this upgrade to Microsoft 365 and Two-Step Login.

Microsoft 365 Applications and Mobile Apps

Because Microsoft 365 uses Microsoft Azure authentication, you should rarely need to additionally authenticate with Two-Step Login when launching a Microsoft app on your computer or mobile device. 

You may be prompted the first time you use Microsoft 365 on a particular device or browser, or when you install a fresh copy of the software.
