Sign In and Sign Out of Skype IM in Outlook on the Web

This article applies to: Skype (Outlook on the Web)

By default, when you log in to Outlook on the Web, you will automatically be signed in to IM within Outlook on the Web. When you are signed in to IM within Outlook on the Web, a limited set of Skype features are available to you.

The sign-in status of IM (Skype) in Outlook on the Web is "sticky." Each time you use Outlook on the Web, it will remember whether you were signed in or signed out when you ended your previous session.

To sign in, click your picture (or the generic human icon) at the right end of the red, Cornell-themed tool bar, then select Sign in to IM. You won't be asked for a password because you are already logged in to Outlook on the Web.

Sign Out

To sign out, click your picture (or the generic human icon) at the right end of the red, Cornell-themed tool bar.

Below your name and NetID is your Presence indicator (may read Available, Busy, etc.). Click the small downward-facing arrow next to it, then select Sign out of IM.

Signing out of IM will disable Skype features in Outlook on the Web, and will hide your presence status from other users. If you are logged in to Skype on the full client or on a mobile device, your presence status may still be available.
