There have been a number of useful updates to Microsoft Teams in recent months. For more information about these updates, explore the conversations in Teams.

Ask me to confirm when I leave a meeting

Teams can now prompt you to confirm when you click the Leave button during a meeting. To enable this option, in Teams select Settings from the menu bar (for the web, click the triple dots near your profile picture). Choose General and look for Meeting.

Select multiple messages to forward

Select up to five messages from a chat or channel and forward them together in one message, preserving context and order. (You can view these messages on a mobile device but cannot forward multiple messages from a mobile device yet.)

Teams Web - More Accurate presence

Previously, when using Teams Web, if you did not have the Teams tab in focus, you could be set to Away status. Now, if you enable this feature, Teams will detect activity on your device—even if you're not actively using the Teams tab—ensuring your status remains "Available" when you are truly active. To opt in to this feature:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams in your browser.
  2. Click the ellipses (…) next to your profile picture in the top-right corner and select Settings.
  3. Select Notifications and Activity and look for Presence near the end of the list.
  4. Toggle on the option: “Keep my current status when I’m active outside of Teams on the web.”
  5. When prompted by your browser, click Allow to grant Teams permission to detect device activity.

Note: If the feature is enabled but you don't grant browser access, Teams won’t detect your activity outside the Teams tab, and your status may still change to “Away” even when you’re active elsewhere.

Pop out your core apps into a new window

Open core applications, such as Chat, Teams, and other essential apps, in separate windows by selecting Open in new window from the app's context menu.

Record audio only in meetings

Keep your camera on during meetings but only record the audio, offering a more comfortable and convenient recording experience. This applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, Teams for the web, and Teams for iOS/Android.

Image Search in Microsoft Teams

You can now search for images in Microsoft Teams—whether it’s a screenshot, whiteboard photo, or any other visual shared in chats or channels. Images can be found by a person's name or message content in Autosuggest, while the Search Results Page also shows the chat or channel where the image was shared for added context.

Note: Image search currently does not support text within images (OCR).

Windows jump list experience

Microsoft has updated the Microsoft Teams jump list experience on Windows to streamline access to key actions directly from the desktop.

Native macOS screen sharing in Teams meetings

This new opt-in feature allows you to share your screen or window directly from macOS during Teams meetings.
