Cornell Qualtrics and Your Survey Results

Cornell Qualtrics is for conducting survey research and producing reports from the collected data. Once a survey has concluded, close it and transfer any response data you want to keep to a permanent storage destination. After you leave Cornell, the account will be deleted, so transfer ownership of any surveys that will still be needed.

This article applies to: Qualtrics (Survey Tool)

Cornell is Required to Reclaim Unused Licenses

Due to licensing requirements, Cornell must keep the number of Qualtrics accounts within our contractual limit by deleting unused accounts. This means:

  • Once you leave Cornell, your account will be deleted, along with any surveys and data associated with it.
  • If you do not sign into your Qualtrics account for a year and have no surveys, your account will be deleted and you will need to recreate it. Any collaborations sharing surveys to the deleted account will need to be reshared to your new account.

Close Surveys that have Ended and Save the Data

When your survey has concluded, close it.  The survey and its results will still be available to you, but no one will be able to submit responses anymore.

When you are done with collecting responses and analyzing the data in Qualtrics, export any data you want to keep to a permanent storage solution. You can also save surveys you'd like to keep

After you leave Cornell, your account will eventually be deleted. If a survey will still be needed, request that ownership be transferred to someone who will still be here.

When you are completely done with a survey and its results, after saving anything you want to keep, delete the survey project by going to Qualtrics' Organizing & Viewing Your Projects and following the instructions under Deleting a Project. If you realize you deleted a survey in error shortly after doing so, you can request that it be restored. This capability is only possible for a limited time after the survey is deleted, so always make to save survey data you want to keep.
