Edit and Delegate Access

By giving someone in your organization edit or delegate access, you can allow them to manage your Outlook calendar.

Edit Access: The individual can view and make changes to your calendar. View instructions to assign an editor with no delegation permissions.

Delegate Access: In addition to having edit access, the individual can schedule and respond to meetings for you. View instructions to assign a delegate.

When assigning a delegate, you’ll decide how meeting requests and responses are handled. Meeting invites will not be saved in your inbox if your settings indicate Delegate only. Make sure to select either Delegate and send me a copy or Both my delegate and me if appropriate for your needs.

Find more information on how to send as/act “on behalf of” someone else in Microsoft Outlook.

Troubleshooting and Support

In certain cases, delegated accounts can experience problems with performance and synchronization: items may be missing, deleted items may remain, overall performance may suffer.

If you believe you have a situation that goes beyond simple sharing, please contact the IT Service Desk, where we will walk you through the options to determine the correct settings for both the person granting access and the person receiving it. Use the phrase “Exchange permission choices” and we’ll find the information you need.
