Set Up SecurID Pin (Hardware Fob)

Hardware or software key fobs are available for people who need to log into servers in the Extra Tier and for some high-security applications.

This article applies to: Managed Servers

After you receive your SecurID key fob, you'll set up the PIN by connecting to the Hopper RDP system.

  1. Connect to this server: hopperrdp.cit.cornell.edu.

  2. You'll be prompted to enter your NetID and password.

  3. Click the RSA SecurID logo.

  4. In User name, enter your NetID.
    In Passcode, enter the numbers displayed on the screen of your SecurID fob.
    Note: Your passcode will change after you set your pin.

  5. You will be prompted to set a PIN. Enter a numeric PIN from 4-8 digits, and then click Finish.

  6. You'll see the login prompt again.
    In User name, enter your NetID.
    In Passcode, enter your new SecurID passcode. This is your PIN followed by the numbers displayed on the screen of your SecurID fob.
    Example:
    PIN = 12345678
    Fob shows 999999
    Passcode = 12345678999999.
    Note: You can only use the number that the SecurID fob displays once. If it has not yet changed from your first login, wait until it does before entering your passcode.

  7. The first time you log in, you will be prompted to enter your Windows password. Click OK.

  8. In Password, enter your password from the Cornell domain. (For most people, this is your NetID password.)
    Note: You should only see this prompt the first time you log into a SecurID system.

You're now logged in.
