Unit Administrator Guide (EZ-Backup Modernization)

For Administrators: How to move toward a new backup service

This article applies to: EZ-Backup

What is the timeline for migration from EZ-Backup to a new service?

The EZ-Backup storage platform is supported by IBM Storage Protect and all customers will be migrated from Storage Protect to new services before the December 2023 retirement deadline. See the complete project timeline.

What information does the EZ-Backup team need from unit administrators?

  • Complete the Backup Usage and Requirements Survey.

A survey was sent to all EZ-Backup customers to better understand your backup requirements and align the replacement service with your needs. You can participate here with this Qualtrics survey.

  • Participate in follow-up interviews.

The EZ-Backup team may have further questions about the information you included in the survey. If so, the team may contact you to set up a 30-minute Zoom session to gain a more thorough understanding of your backup use and needs.

  • Delete obsolete EZ-Backup nodes.

Your unit will receive a list of nodes that haven’t backed up in over 90 days. This reference will give organizations a chance to review and identify nodes that are no longer required and submit decommission requests as appropriate.
