What Skills do I Need to Work with an Acquia Drupal Site?
You'll need both technical and web design skills. (Or you'll need to hire these skills.)
- Environment: Acquia is a hosting company. Your site is hosted in their cloud. They keep the infrastructure running.
- Drupal application and modules: Cornell multi-server clients receive the Acquia Remote Administration service, which includes Drupal core code updates, as well as updates and patches to installed modules. Cornell single-server clients are responsible for updates and patches to the Drupal core code and to installed modules. (Single-server clients can purchase the Remote Administration service or hire these services.)
- Site design and development: You are responsible for all design and development, and for meeting Cornell standards such as web accessibility. You can perform these duties yourself or hire another group, such as Custom Development (IWS).
- Paid support: Cornell customers are required to purchase Acquia support for their cloud environment. Support for questions related to the Drupal application, your site content, search, optimizing site access, etc. are covered by a paid contract that is in addition to your hosting fees.
