Set NetID Password Security Questions

This article applies to: NetIDs , Security & Policy

Cornell is phasing out the use of security questions in favor of setting a recovery email address to reset forgotten or lost Cornell NetID passwords. Please visit Set a NetID Recovery Email for more details.

If you:

  • Have set security questions in the past and have not yet set a recovery email address, then your security questions will continue to be available to reset your password. However, you are encouraged to transition to the recovery mail method, which is considered more secure.
  • Have Set a NetID Recovery Email, then you will use the recovery email to reset a NetID password going forward. As with the security questions option, the recovery email option allows you to reset your password without visiting the IT Service Desk.

Whichever method you use, go to Manage Your NetID and click Forgot Password to reset a password.
