I Already Have a Personal LastPass Account Using My Cornell Address (Free or Premium)

What happens if you already set up a personal LastPass account using your Cornell email address?

This article applies to: Secure Password Management

If you have, at some point in the past, created a personal LastPass account using your NetID@cornell.edu email address, your account will be converted into a Cornell Enterprise account during activation. This is true for both free personal accounts and premium personal accounts.

If you had a premium personal account (one you paid for) we have the following information from LastPass:

  • Your account will be converted into a Cornell Enterprise account during activation. (This is good.)
  • You will NOT receive a refund. (This is reality.)
  • You MUST cancel your personal premium account, or you will be auto-billed when your current premium period runs out. Follow these instructions, which have been copied verbatim from the LastPass vendor documentation. If you see an option to cancel automatic renewal, take it:
If you do not cancel auto renewal, you will be charged for a personal premium account and it won't include anything beyond what your Cornell enterprise account provides. So please cancel.

When you leave Cornell, your account will be converted to a free personal account. You can upgrade to premium at that point if you choose.
