Leaving Cornell?
What to do with your Box account when you leave Cornell
This article applies to: Box
Cornell's Box contract covers active employees and students.
Alumni and some retirees will NOT be able to access their Cornell Box accounts. For more information, see What Happens When You Leave: Steps to Take Regarding Specific IT Services.
Students nearing graduation (or otherwise leaving) and staff nearing retirement (or otherwise leaving) should do the following:
- If you want to continue using Box for cloud storage, open a Box account under an email address that doesn't end in cornell.edu. Box offers free personal 10-GB accounts.
- Go through the folders in your Cornell Box account. Any folders that are work-related should be transferred to a co-worker. Any folders that are personal should be transferred to the new box account you have opened.
- Review the suggestions at Move Your Data Stored in Box for methods you can use to take your data with you.
