Setup FileVault on a Single Computer

Enable FileVault on a Mac computer that is not managed by Cornell IT staff

This article applies to: FileVault

You will not be able to enable FileVault on a computer that is managed by Cornell IT staff, because encryption will already be setup.  If you are not sure whether your computer is managed, please contact your support provider.

Please confirm the secure storage of your recovery keys. Consult with your support provider or the IT Security Office for recommendations for key escrow.
