Pause Your Code42 Backup

This article applies to: Code42 (CrashPlan)

Some units have turned off this feature for their users. If you cannot perform the steps listed below, please contact your local IT support folks.

There may be times when you do not want Code42 to perform backups.

  • During a presentation.
  • When connected on your home network.
  • When using applications that interact with files very frequently (meaning that Code42 will attempt to back up the each new version in rapid succession).

In cases like these, you can pause Code42.

  1. Windows: In your system tray, click the Code42 icon.
Mac: Click the Code42 icon in your Mac's menu bar.
  2. In the small Code42 dialog box that opens, click the gear icon.
  3. Hover over Pause all backups. Select the pause duration (1 hour, 4 hours, or 1 day) that suits your needs.

Code42 will automatically resume backup activities when the selected period has passed.
