RingCentral Replaces Avaya Telephone System

Desktop phone with receiver lifted

RingCentral will replace all Avaya telephones and related services across the Cornell Ithaca campus by May 15, 2025.

On This Page

The Avaya telephone system and its related services will be retired next year on May 15, 2025. On that date, Avaya will no longer be supported on the Ithaca campus.

Why now?

The successful progression with our RingCentral migration along with concerns regarding the aging Avaya service prompted us to formalize the retirement process and timeline as well as increase publicity for that timeline.

Faculty and Staff Impact

With 75% of the known phone service customers transitioned to RingCentral, we need to migrate remaining services. Please survey your building or area to help identify phone lines that should be transitioned to RingCentral.

New Request Form & FAQs

For Telecommunications Coordinators, a new online request form was developed to improve the request and response process. We also updated our frequently asked questions (FAQ) page to provide more information for the telecommunications coordinators.

Thank you!

Your on-going support and feedback has been critical to the smooth transition from Avaya to RingCentral that began in 2020. If you have further questions, please email ncs-os@cornell.edu.
