Vanity URLs

A vanity URL provides a friendly or personalized domain name for your site which, in theory, is easier to remember than a long, multi-level link.

A vanity URL typically delivers the specific content area desired. So instead of directing your visitors to “www.subject.cornell.edu/professor/smith/homework/2012/spring,” you could direct them to “spring.subject.cornell.edu.”

What about a URL like [mysite].cornell.edu?

In most cases, this style of URL is not available. Depending on the purpose, you may be eligible. Cornell has a policy on Internet domain names that you should review to see if you qualify at Register or Request a Domain Name at Cornell.
