When deciding whether to activate AI tools to summarize or analyze Teams meetings, consider carefully whether the potential benefits of using Facilitator outweigh the security, privacy, and accuracy risks outlined on this page, or whether the tool might be inappropriate or unauthorized based on the nature of the meeting.

ask that it be turned off or leave the meeting.
Teams Facilitator is not the same as a
Teams Live Transcription. Live Transcription provides real-time subtitling for those needing or wanting that feature.

- Must not share Facilitator content that has not been reviewed for accuracy, or which may contain confidential or restricted information.
- Must not record, share, or store recordings that involve discussion of confidential or sensitive information like: high-risk or regulated data (e.g., personnel information, social security number, credit or debit card numbers, driver’s license number, visa or passport number, bank account number, personal health-related information, personal financial information, education records (FERPA), personally identifiable information (PII), etc.); privileged legal matters; or any other confidential or sensitive information (e.g. personnel matters, security matters, protected research information, birth dates).
- Must not use Facilitator in clinical, telemedicine, or healthcare settings (e.g., during any patient encounters); peer review meetings; or IRB meetings.

- Respect the wishes of participants who request disabling these tools.
- Review reports and transcripts for accuracy and appropriateness. If you need to share the information, email a copy of the information to recipients.
