Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Options
This article applies to: Software Licensing
If you have a RHEL 5 server using the Cornell site license, the only option is to upgrade to a newer version of RedHat or CentOS. The Extended Life Cycle Support (ELS) Add-On for RHEL 5 is not available under our Cornell RedHat self-support site license.
Migrate to CentOS information
Migrate to CentOS at https://www.centos.org/download/ to avoid future fees. Check that the software applications on the server do not require RedHat for vendor support. Oracle and IBM applications typically require a RedHat OS for full vendor support.
You will need to configure your system to install patches on a regular schedule. Information on how to do this can be found at:

Purchasing a Red Hat license
You can purchase a standalone Red Hat license subscription. Visit https://www.redhat.com/en/store/linux-platforms for more information. Use the Red Hat Subscription Management (RHSM) system with your own account. This will allow you to manage your own account and subscriptions.
