JMP Licensing
This article applies to: Software Licensing and Installation
JMP is a graphical statistical analysis application, with a focus on exploratory analytics, which was originally developed by The SAS Institute. JMP Software is now a standalone company that’s completely separate from its parent organization.
In 2025, JMP Software announced that it is releasing a new product: JMP Student Edition. This product is free to use by all students and instructors at accredited secondary and post-secondary schools, colleges, and universities.
Because JMP is now free to use for educational and nonprofit academic purposes, Cornell University no longer manages a license for this product. Qualified personnel at Cornell University can obtain free licensing for JMP Student Edition directly from JMP Software.
Highlights of JMP Student Edition:
- Based on JMP Pro and fully compatible with existing JMP coding
- Free to qualified students, teachers, and instructors
- 12-month term license
- May be installed onto school-owned lab and classroom computers. (Visit JMP's page for more info about classroom and lab deployment .)
Licensing Information:
- Students, faculty, and instructional staff can obtain free licensing at the manufacturer’s website.
- To get started with JMP, visit the JMP Learning Library.
- For questions about the software, its capabilities, or licensing, please send an email message to the manufacturer.
- For technical support, please contact the manufacturer.
