Copilot query: how can I make my slide presentations more interesting?

Cornell's contract with Microsoft ensures that any information you enter in Microsoft Copilot is kept private. Your data and Cornell's data are protected, chats aren't saved, Microsoft does not have visibility into the conversation, and your data isn't used to train the underlying large language models.

This means that when your session ends and you quit the browser or application you are using with Copilot, the interaction and all the information from it are gone.

How to Export a Conversation

Copilot does not currently offer you a way to export your entire session's conversation. You will need to save both individual queries, as well as individual responses. Trying to use Select all in your browser's window will also not capture the conversation for you.

Save Queries

Copilot offers one way to save a query: Copy.

  1. Hover your pointer over your query. A rectangular icon appears below it. When you click on the rectangle, it will copy your query to memory.
    ""
  2. Paste your query into your document of choice.

Save Responses

Copilot offers two ways to save a response: Copy and Export. When you hover over a response, you will see the following icons appear:

The icons show thumb up, thumb down, paper, down arrow and volume icons

The rectangular icon will copy, and the down arrow will export.

Copy a Response

  1. Hover over the response. Click the Copy icon.
    ""
  2. Paste your response into your document of choice.
Using the Copy function allows you to easily keep your queries and responses together in one single document.

Export a Response

  1. Hover over the response. Click the Export icon. It will display export options for you.
    ""
  2. Select one of the export options.
    1. Word opens in a new browser tab, not your desktop application, and is saved to your OneDrive account. See this sample Word output.
    2. PDF opens a print dialog box where you can either print or Save to PDF. See this sample PDF output.
    3. Text will download a text file to your computer. See this sample Text output.
  3. Each response will save in a different file. If you want a running record of your conversation, the Copy feature may suit your needs better than Export.
In some browsers, you may need to enable popups for Export to work.

How to Access Your Chat History

Due to data protection you cannot access a chat history like you can in a personal (not Cornell-protected) version of Copilot. Microsoft does not store any data after you end your chat session.
