Cloud Services Tips and Best Practices

Use the same good judgment you exercise when using any service, regardless of whether it is a campus-developed or a cloud service. In particular, practice good data management strategies by following the guidelines for protecting university data. Be familiar with all aspects of computer, data and internet security and privacy as explained in Security. Protecting Data in the Cloud provides specific tips for cloud safety. It is particularly important for custodians of institutional information to be aware of when they may or may not use cloud services to send or store sensitive and regulated institutional information. Choose the right service or tool for sending or storing institutional information by following the guidelines included in the Regulated Data Chart.
