About This Program

Apple devices purchased through The Cornell Store using a departmental KFS account are enrolled in Cornell's Certified Desktop service. This program allows your local IT staff to install and update important security applications to help protect data and personal information on the device.

Frequently asked questions about the program can be found by visiting Apple Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) Program.

Privacy Policy and Release from the Program

Certified Desktop complies fully with Cornell information privacy policies and is intended only for data security and protection. No personal information is ever collected about browsing history, filenames, or the content of personal files (such as documents, photos, music, or email).

Nevertheless, some users may prefer to remove this protection from the device. While users are strongly discouraged from doing so, you may request that your device be opted out by filling out an online form.

Visit Apple Device Enrollment (ADE) Release to begin the opt-out process.

Whether you choose to opt out or not, it is imperative that you familiarize yourself with your responsibilities for Information Security as a member of the Cornell community.
