Box Content With No Owner

This article applies to: Box

To meet Cornell’s contractual obligations and ensure efficient use of university IT resources, CIT is required to delete ownerless, unneeded content from Box. Content previously owned by someone who has left the university and that isn’t shared to collaborators is automatically deleted.

When ownerless content in Box has been shared to individuals at Cornell, they will be contacted before it’s deleted, and if they are co-owners or editors, given the option to take ownership. A list of other collaborators and their email addresses is provided in case someone can’t or doesn’t want to become the owner.

When someone takes ownership of content, the privileges of everyone else who has access to the folder stay the same as they had been.
