Wi-Fi Installation for a Department

Wi-Fi coverage is desired in areas where users tend to assemble, be mobile, and use laptops or other handheld networked devices—areas such as conference rooms, classrooms, and public study areas.

This article applies to: Wi-Fi

Departments who would like to establish or improve Wi-Fi in their areas can consult with Cornell Information Technologies (CIT). Wi-Fi service on campus is provided via the Aruba Networks 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi platform.

Departments can engage CIT to do a survey and estimate the cost to install wireless access points. Upon customer approval of the estimate, CIT does the infrastructure design, build, and Wi-Fi installation. This type of Wi-Fi installation typically requires construction of conduit and placement of cable and new outlets. Costs vary by building and location.

To request Wi-Fi estimates or work, telecommunication coordinators, building coordinators, and/or network administrators can email CIT Request Fulfilment Services
