FileMaker Licensing

This article applies to: Software Licensing

FileMaker is a cross-platform relational database application that allows advanced database design with a drag-and-drop interface. The manufacturer is FileMaker, Inc

CU Software currently resells four FileMaker products: FileMaker, FileMaker Advanced, FileMaker Server, and FileMaker Server Advanced. Please see the vendor's site for information about these products to help you determine which version is right for your needs.

Eligibility

Cornell's FileMaker volume license is available to Cornell University staff and faculty, for installation onto Cornell-owned machines.

FileMaker is currently sold under perpetual licensing, meaning that the licenses do not expire. CU Software maintains a FileMaker annual maintenance license, which entitle licensees to upgrades when new versions become available. The maintenance license runs from August 3rd of the current year through August 2nd of the following calendar year.

We recommend that new FileMaker customers buy into our maintenance license at purchase, and then continue to renew that license on an annual basis.
