The Secure Connect project is planning and implementing the rollout of the new service to the Cornell community.

Phase 1: Enhanced Login Safety

The initial launch of Secure Connect will only be available for Cornell-owned devices and will provide login access to the 1,000+ systems (Workday, CU Library, TeamDynamix, Cornell Widen Collective, Who I Am, etc.) that use CUWebLogin. Others, like Outlook on the Web and Slack, will not use Secure Connect.

  • Early summer 2023: first pilot for Secure Connect; being used by all CIT staff
  • Fall 2023: voluntary rollout to IT campus units and individuals they select
  • December 2023: Senior leadership adopted passkey login
  • February 2024: offered as an option to faculty and staff
  • Future development: passkey option offered as an option to students

These dates are subject to change as the service is tested and any necessary adjustments are made.

Phase 2: Enhanced Device Safety

Once phase two of Secure Connect starts (timing to be determined), Beyond Identity will also check your device’s security before accessing sensitive Cornell resources. For example, Cornell may need to confirm that your device is encrypted and has approved security software installed and running.

The technical details for "device security" are currently in the development phase. Broadly, your device will be required to meet standards set by University Policy 5.10, Information Security.
