How to park a call

This article applies to: Telephone Services for Faculty and Staff

On This Page

To park a call

  • Depress switchhook.
  • Dial 200.
  • Dial extension number where call is to be parked, or dial # if it is to be parked on the current number.

Note: If a busy signal is received, a call is already parked from this extension, so you cannot park this call.

The phone will ring back in one minute if a parked call has not been retrieved and the line is available. If you do not pick up, the parked call with follow your call coverage path.

To retrieve parked call

  • Hear dial tone.
  • Dial #0.
  • Dial extension number where call was parked, or dial # if it was parked on the current number.

Note: If you hear alternating high and low tones, either the caller has hung up or you dialed from an extension that does not have a call parked.

To place call on hold and retrieve parked call

  • Depress switchhook.
  • Dial *6.
  • Dial #0.
  • Dial extension number where call was parked, or dial # if it was parked on the current number.

To return to held call

  • Hang up. (The phone rings 3 short rings.)

Note: The present caller (if any) is disconnected and the phone will be rung back if the held caller is still holding.
