Work with the Office 365 Nav Bar

This article describes ways to customize the Office 365 nav bar, which appears at the top of Outlook on the Web and other Office 365 online applications.

This article applies to: Outlook on the Web

Microsoft frequently updates the design of Outlook on the Web, so your version may not match exactly the description given here.

Overview

When you sign in to Outlook on the Web, you'll see a red, Cornell-branded toolbar across the top of the browser window or tab. Microsoft calls this the "nav bar."

The icon at the far left (nine dots) is the app launcher, where you can access the various parts of Office 365, including Outlook mail, calendar, people, OneDrive, Office Online apps, and more.

To switch between apps, click the app launcher icon, then select an app.

Choose What Appears in the Launcher

If there are apps you never use, you can remove them from the app launcher. You can add them back later.

Remove App from Launcher

To remove an app, click the app launcher icon, then hover over the app you want to add. Click the three dots icon that appears in the upper-right corner of the app icon, then click Unpin from app launcher.

Restore App to Launcher

To restore an app to the app launcher, click the app launcher icon, then click My apps in the lower-right corner of the app launcher. A page will open showing all your apps.

Hover over the icon for the app you want to restore to the launcher, then click Pin to app launcher.

Choose What Appears on the Nav Bar

You can add up to three apps to the nav bar, which makes them slightly easier to access.

Add App to Nav Bar

Click the app launcher icon, then hover over the app you want to add. Click the three dots icon that appears in the upper-right corner of the app icon, then click Pin to nav bar.

Remove App from Nav Bar

To remove an app from the nav bar, right-click (Mac: or ctrl-click) the app's icon in the nav bar, then click Unpin from nav bar.
