Starting July 10, 2026, the Zoom licensing structure changed slightly. Zoom accounts at Cornell now include Essentials (for faculty, staff, academic, temporary, exception, and affiliate employment classifications) and Student (for students and anyone not in the Essentials category).
Essentials Licenses
The Zoom Essentials license includes:
- a meeting capacity of 500 seats (up from 300)
- the option to host a Zoom webinar with a 500 seat capacity (previously only available on request)
- Zoom Translated captions (automatic text translation from one language to another)
- Zoom Scheduler
If you need to host larger meetings (up to 3,000 seats), or to request premium audio services, see the information on the Zoom Request page.
Student Licenses
Those with student licenses should see no changes to their Zoom experience.
