In late July, a toggle became available in Zoom settings that allows enablement of the new Zoom web portal interface. Starting August 13, 2026, the new interface will become the only option as the legacy interface is retired.

The new user interface makes the Zoom web portal experience more closely mirror the Zoom desktop app. Zoom had initially picked a date for this change which would have conflicted with the first week of classes, and the decision was made at Cornell that it would be less disruptive to make the change sooner.

A share of Cornell Zoom users do not interact with the web interface, instead doing all their work in the computer, phone, or tablet app. The behavior of these apps will not be affected by this web portal change.
