The best response to a service disruption is often preventing it in the first place.

Effective monitoring and event management help service teams identify issues early, understand the health and performance of the services they provide, and respond before customers or operations are significantly impacted. In practice, that means detecting meaningful changes, alerts, and warning signs before they become service disruptions, so the right people can take action quickly.

This month's Service Management Special Interest Group (SIG) will explore how Cornell teams can strengthen their monitoring and event management practices to improve visibility, reduce alert fatigue, and enable faster, more proactive responses. In a conversation facilited by Sean Walsh, participants will have an opportunity to discuss current approaches, challenges, tools, and ideas while helping shape what a more consistent and coordinated approach could look like across Cornell.
