An ai-generated illustration of data coming out of a faucet.

Between the morning keynote speakers and breakout sessions, attendees of the April 2, 2025, Emerging Tech Dialogues: Trust & Data event can explore poster sessions in the Statler Hall atrium. One of these poster sessions will highlight Boomi’s integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS), presented by members of the Integrations Competency Center (ICC) within the Data Warehousing & Integrations team: Preslava Staneva, John Parker, and Stephen Barrett

The ICC offers a range of full-service integration development and support, from provisioning Boomi sub-accounts to providing guidance to citizen developers who would prefer to build and maintain their own integrations.

With the Boomi platform, they can safely and efficiently enrich and transfer data between different (mostly cloud-based) systems. Integrations provide the underlying data flow for many administrative, student, and alumni services on campus. Without integrations, systems that support vital processes like payroll, events ticketing, dining, transportation, and the library system wouldn’t have up-to-date data.

“Because Boomi is a cloud-based service, we can rely on the platform to conform to the latest standards and security updates. It’s an incredibly versatile tool,” Staneva said, “Often, people will reach out to us when a legacy codebase has been supported by someone about to retire. Using Boomi, we can efficiently replace decades of legacy single-use spaghetti code with modern, reusable components and reduce technical debt.”

With Boomi, the ICC can manipulate data from multiple sources, extract only what is pertinent, apply business rules, normalize values, clean up the data using built-in or external tools, and write custom code. They can also synchronize data between systems faster than what’s typically expected.

“Data integration can be likened to household plumbing; integrations provide the pipes through which data flows between systems,” Staneva explained.

With Boomi integrations, the team can “turn the data faucet on” at scheduled times, capturing all the data, or important subsets, such as changes that have occurred since the last time the process was run, or the faucet was on, to keep with the analogy. Alternatively, their team can leave the faucet on at a drip, capturing real-time updates as new data flows through the pipes. With APIs, they can give users on-demand access to adjust the flow of data for themselves.

Register today and be sure to visit the ICC team to get answers to all your pressing questions about Boomi iPaaS.

In-person registrations after Tuesday, March 25, are not guaranteed a lunch. Catering numbers will be locked in at the end of the day on March 25. Please bring a lunch or make alternate plans if you register after 3/25/25 and will join us at Statler Hall.
