Register Domain Names

Cornell.edu domain names should be registered using Cornell's domain name management process.

Media3 offers domain name management services.  Before using those services, please read the following articles describing Cornell requirements:

Names that don’t end in “cornell.edu” but are paid for using university funds or run on a university-owned computer must be registered with Cornell.

Manage Domain Names

Summary: Customers have options for managing Domain Name Servers (DNS).  You can use Media3 support for DNS.  If you know how to manage DNS or you have your own internal processes, you can use them instead.

Option 1: Media3 can make DNS changes as needed for Cornell customer websites. Just submit a ticket with Media3 with your requested change(s). You should know if your website will be using CU Webauth (NetID and password to login) or Shibboleth. Media3 can also configure SSL/HTTPS on your website when needed.

Option 2: If you are a Netadmin on your Cornell subdomain, or usually work with the Netadmin of your subdomain, you may have them edit your DNS as needed.  However, Media3 can and will make the appropriate changes to your Media3 website for custom domains.
