EZ-Backup Problem: Error “TCP/IP Invalid Host Name”

This article applies to: EZ-Backup

If you see “TCP/IP Invalid Host Name” when you try to run the TSM GUI Client, this usually means that the name of the EZ-Backup server is not configured correctly in your TSM preferences. To check and/or change the name of the EZ-Backup server in your TSM preferences, do the following:

  1. Start up the TSM Backup Archive GUI client.
  2. Click OK when the error message appears. The Backup Archive GUI client should continue to open without a connection to the server.
  3. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.
  4. Click the Communication tab.
  5. Check that the Server Address field is set to one of the values in the Server Address column in the table below. Correct it if necessary.
  6. Check that the Server Port field is set to the Server Port value in the table below that corresponds to the Server Address set in step 5. Correct it, if necessary.
  7. Click on OK, and OK again when prompted to restart.
  8. Close the Tivoli Storage Manager.
