High Risk Countries

This article applies to: High Risk Travel Loaner Program

Global Cornell curates a list of countries, cities, and regions that are deemed an elevated risk. If travel involving students, staff, alumni, or the public includes a destination listed below, a petition to travel must be submitted to International Travel Advisory and Response Team (ITART). You may also refer to the International SOS (ISOS) Global Risk Ratings for more information on your destination.

Import/export regulations may also inform what technology you take with you. Refer to Export Controls and International Travel for more information.

Countries that do have technology restrictions may legally confiscate devices entering or leaving their borders, potentially including your phone, tablet, or laptop. Staff should contact security-services@cornell.edu if they plan to travel to any of the countries maintained on this list. A loaner laptop may be available for your travels, and staff can help you avoid potential travel issues.
