How to Use SandboxAI

The SandboxAI is currently in an exploratory phase and not yet widely available.

Access is currently limited. If you have an institutional problem that requires data-protected AI to help solve, please submit a request to access this tool.

To Access SandboxAI

  1. Go to the link you received in your introductory email.
  2. Log in with your NetID, password, and two-step authentication.

You should now have access to the chatbot.

Choose Your Model

Choose your Large Language Model from the drop down menu at the top left of the window. As Cornell evaluates and experiments with SandboxAI, the LLM options may change.

To Use the AI

  1. Type in your prompt in the box at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Use the up arrow to send the query.
  3. Depending on your results, you can copy the entire response with the stacked paper icon. Queries that result in code will offer you the option to copy only the code (for example, Excel formulas or computer code ).
  4. View your chat history on the left sidebar.
    1. You may need to click the > symbol to show the left sidebar.
    2. Select a chat that you want to revisit.
    3. Use the prompt box at the bottom of the screen to resume your "conversation."
  5. Use the paper clip icon in the chat box to upload a file to the AI. Once the file loads, you can reference it in your queries.

A small (but important) technical note: the AI may skim an uploaded file and not read the full content of the information you provide. Improve the AI's accuracy by writing your query, then pasting the entire document into the chat.
