Zooming with laptop

Starting Sunday, October 15, 2023, Zoom hosts and co-hosts who use breakout rooms will have the ability to view the activity level of participants in breakout rooms.

After session participants have been added to breakout rooms, the hosts and co-hosts will be able to see information about participant activity on the Rooms tab of the Breakout Rooms panel.

Here, they can not only view which participants are in each breakout room and manage breakout room assignments as usual, but will also see icons indicating whether each participant has audio and video turned on, is sharing their screen, or has active reactions or non-verbal feedback.

The participant activity feature will likely be useful for instructors who want to track student engagement in breakout rooms during a class Zoom session.

Participants will be notified before they join a breakout room that their activity status will be shared with hosts and co-hosts. Activity statuses are not available for participants who joined the session by phone, H.323, or SIP.
