Avaya telecommuncations service ends June 30, 2025.

To avoid the surprise of a disconnected Avaya telephone number or other legacy telecommunications services on June 30, 2025, plan now to migrate to RingCentral.

The majority of campus phone lines transitioned to the new telecommunications platform, RingCentral. Emergency phones, a critical part of any successful phone system transition, are currently in the process of moving off the legacy system and into RingCentral.

RingCentral offers voice calling services through a desktop application that is included in the software package for Cornell-owned computers. Unlike Teams and Zoom, which many employees choose for their video calls and messaging, the RingCentral service includes a unique telephone number for each customer.

This initiative is part of the university’s cost-savings plan. The next fiscal year budget will support RingCentral telecommunications services but not Avaya.
