A globe of network connections held up by a hand.

On January 7, 2025, Network services will begin migrating Central Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services from the Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) DHCP software to a newer version called Kea DHCP. During this maintenance, Cornell Ithaca wireless networks (eduroam, Red Rover, and Cornell Visitor) will move to the new Kea DHCP service.

Kea is designed and developed for modern network environments. The customer experience will be unchanged. Network administrators can expect to continue interacting with the campus DHCP servers via DNSDB.

A larger migration is planned January 14, 2025, moving all remaining networks on the Ithaca, Geneva, and NY Tech campuses. While the migration is expected to be seamless, wired and wi-fi networks may be intermittently unavailable during the maintenance window of January 14, 2025, 5am-7am.

If devices are experiencing network issues after the maintenance window on January 14, 2025, please first try restarting your device to re-establish the connection. If the connection isn’t restored after a reset, please submit a ticket

Campus IT professionals and Technical Support Providers can find more information on the FAQ, and are welcome to direct further questions or concerns to Network Services
