Student using smartphone with laptop at desk

On Monday, February 2, 2026, Duo is making a change that will cause unsupported versions of their software to no longer receive Duo Push requests or be able to complete Duo Mobile-based verification.

Who Is Affected

  • Anyone who uses Duo Mobile on an unsupported mobile OS, or with an app that’s out of date.
  • Duo Mobile SysAdmins with outdated server-side integrations.

If this change will impact you, then you've already been contacted.

In most cases, Duo Mobile updates automatically on supported mobile devices. Unsupported mobile OS versions are unable to update Duo Mobile and will no longer work for Duo verification after February 2, 2026.

Unsupported mobile OS versions include:

  • Android devices with OS version earlier than 11
  • Android devices from Huawei or running customized Android distribution like OxygenOS
  • iOS version earlier than 15
  • Blackberry OS
  • Blackberry devices running Android OS earlier than 11
  • Windows Phone 10

Action Required

Duo Mobile Customers

If you are using an unsupported mobile device, you can switch to a device with a supported OS. Alternatively, you can purchase a USB security key, or a hardware token to continue using your current device.

If you use a supported mobile device, check whether your Duo Mobile app is up-to-date:

  1. Launch the Duo Mobile app on the mobile device.
  2. Tap the three stacked lines icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. A menu will display.
  3. Check the app version displayed at the bottom of the menu.
  4. If your app is not version 4.85.0 or later (4.102.0.0 is a later version than 4.85.0), then run updates for your phone and the app. Apps which are version 4.85.0 and above (4.102.0.0 for example) are up-to-date.
If Duo Mobile is not updated to 4.85.0 or later (note that 4.102.0.0 is a later version than 4.85.0), before February 2, 2026, then you will no longer receive Duo Push requests or be able to complete Duo Mobile-based verification. Without Duo, you may be unable to access IT services connected to your Cornell account.

Please contact the IT Service Desk if you need assistance.

Duo Mobile SysAdmins

Update all affected applications and clients that connect to Duo’s servers to the latest CA bundle version before February 2, 2026.
