Service Line Owner

This article applies to: IT Service Management Program

A service line owner oversees the strategic direction of a service line (all services delivered or facilitated by the unit and its partners) to ensure that services deliver value to Cornell. Services are grouped into service lines to ensure value without duplication across the university.

The service line owner:

  • Reviews services within their portfolio to ensure responsibility and ownership has been assigned to service owners and managers
  • Approves financial decisions for service costing
  • Oversees the strategic needs of the service line
  • Checks for value duplication across services
  • Has a strategic plan for service offerings over time
