A practice sponsor is a senior leader responsible for championing, guiding, and enabling the success of a specific Service Management practice. This individual provides strategic oversight, ensures alignment with business objectives, and acts as an advocate for the practice across executive leadership and operational teams. They sponsor necessary resources, including budget, staffing, tools, and training costs, to enable effective execution and sustainable growth.

The practice sponsor’s responsibilities include:  

  • Executive advocacy
  • Resource support including budget, staffing, and tools
  • Practice role staffing and accountability
  • Removal of organizational and cross-functional barriers
  • Stakeholder engagement
