Forward Cornell Google Mail to Manage Storage Space
This article applies to: Cornell Google Workspace for Students
Cornell alumni have 5 GB of storage space in their Cornell Google account. If you forward your email elsewhere or would like to, and want to make sure you never go over your quota in Google, you can set up the account to automatically delete mail and attachments once they've been forwarded.
If you are already forwarding your email
- Sign into to your Google Workspace account at gsuite.cornell.edu.
- At the upper right, click the gear icon, then click See all settings.
- Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- In the Forwarding section, after Forward a copy of incoming mail to and your destination email address, select delete Cornell mail's copy.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
If you have not yet set up forwarding
- Sign into to your Google Workspace account at gsuite.cornell.edu.
- At the upper right, click the gear icon, then click See all settings.
- Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- In the Forwarding section, click Add a forwarding address.
- Enter the email address you want to forward messages to.
- Click Next.
- Click Proceed.
- Click OK. A verification message will be sent to that address.
- Open the account you want to forward to, find the verification message (the subject is Gmail Forwarding Confirmation), then click the verification link in that message.
- Back in your Google Workspace account, on the Settings page, refresh your browser. You do NOT need to enter a verification code.
- Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- In the Forwarding section, select Forward a copy of incoming mail to and choose the destination. Choose delete Cornell mail's copy.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
After following this procedure, all messages delivered to your Google Workspace account will be forwarded to the address you specified and then deleted from the Google account.
