  • Security: IT Technical Support Providers (TSPs) will manage the security of your machine so you don't have to. You can rest assured that software patches, antivirus protection, firewalls and other required IT security compliance items are well maintained.

How is my device enrolled in Jamf Pro?

If your device is eligible for the Apple's Automated Device Enrollment (ADE), they will be enrolled automatically in Jamf Pro as soon as they are connected to the Internet. If your Apple computer is not currently enrolled in Jamf Pro and you would like it to be, please contact your local IT Department/Technical Support Provider (TSP).

What is Self Service?

The Self Service application is similar to the Apple App Store, but it provides customized content for University devices. This content includes access to software, printers, maintenance tasks, helpful links and other documentation. The Self Service app lets users install and manage printers and software on their devices.

What changes does Jamf Pro make automatically to my device?

When a device is enrolled in JAMF Pro, a basic set of applications become available via the Self Service application.

Configurations that are necessary for Cornell specific applications to operate correctly are applied automatically, such as: granting CrowdStrike Endpoint Protection permission to monitor for Malware.

Configurations that are necessary to have the device comply with Cornell IT Security policy 5.10, such as the Screen Lock settings.

Once JAMF is installed, does IT then have the ability to push any applications to the device without the knowledge of the user?

Yes. IT administrators are able to install applications silently on JAMF enrolled devices.

Every Cornell IT department has additional management and configuration settings implemented to support their units needs.  If you have questions, please contact your local IT Unit/Technical Support Provider (TSP).
