CU Print Problem: Why is my print taking so long?
This article applies to: CU Print
CU Print has job filters in place to ensure that the system performs optimally. However, printing delays can still occur. Here are some common causes of a print taking a long time:
- Complex PDFs not being printed as an image. “Print as image” in a PDF essentially converts the entire document into a single image file, which can be useful when dealing with complex layouts, fonts, or images within the PDF that might cause rendering issues during normal printing. This effectively bypasses potential processing problems by sending a simple image representation instead.
- Printing multiple pages on a single sheet. This requires extra calculations, which can add extra processing time, leading to slower printing speeds. To improve printing speed and performance, we suggest printing multiple pages to a sheet and saving that file as a PDF. You may then print that PDF file as an image, as referenced above.
If you experience other printing delays, please submit a request for help so we may further assist you.
