Use Your Alias with Your Email Client

This article applies to: Cornell Optional Email Alias

After you have received confirmation of your new alias, you can tell Office 365 whether to use your netid@cornell.edu address or your alias@cornell.edu address as the “reply-to” address associated with your outgoing email messages.

There is a lifetime limit of two(2) alias requests throughout your time at Cornell.

A setting in Who I Am controls the reply-to address for all Office 365 email clients.

When you’re ready to select your alias,

  1. Go to whoiam.cornell.edu.
  2. Click the Email tab.
  3. Look for the section labeled Primary email address. If you don’t see your alias listed here, this means that you don’t have an alias, or you recently requested an alias but haven’t yet received the “it’s ready to use” confirmation.
  4. Select the address you want to use.
  5. Click Update.
