Proper and Meaningful Title

How to set the title of a PDF document in Acrobat or Word.

This article applies to: Web Accessibility


A PDF document must have a title in order to be accessible. This helps identify the document.  The title should convey the contents of the document.

Word

Windows

  1. Select the File menu.
  2. Under Properties, enter the Title.

Macintosh

  1. Select the File menu.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. On the Summary tab, enter the Title.

Acrobat

  1. Select File.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. On the Description tab, enter the Title.

  4. Select OK.
