Advisory Statement Regarding Zoom API License and Terms of Use

This article applies to: Zoom

Cornell advises against including any restricted or sensitive data or information that might be inappropriate for sharing with AI model training in meetings or webinars that include use of Zoom Marketplace apps.

If you use Zoom Marketplace apps, please be aware that protections included in the Zoom API License and Terms of Use agreement are not as comprehensive as the provisions that cover and may protect other Zoom and Zoom AI Companion use.

Most important, for example, is that user data and content from meetings may be used by Zoom to train AI models. This is not allowed under the terms of Cornell’s general Master Service Agreement with Zoom, but is not prohibited under the Zoom API License and Terms of Use agreement.
