Many Emerging Tech Dialogues conversations focus on technologies and tools, but some of the most important discussions center on the people, services, and experiences that support Cornell's teaching, research, and administrative missions every day.
This fall, three breakout sessions facilitated by Evolve IT leaders invite colleagues to contribute directly to ongoing planning and initiatives across the university. Like the most successful breakout sessions, these conversations encourage participation, collaboration, and shared learning rather than passive listening.
What Would Great Look Like? A Visioning Workshop for Cornell Endpoint and AV Services
Led by Laura Landphair, participants will work through real-world scenarios and discuss how technology services are experienced by different members of the Cornell community, from faculty preparing for class to staff onboarding new employees and students borrowing equipment for projects. The goal is to gather input that will help inform future Evolve IT initiatives focused on endpoint support, client services, and classroom technology.
The Future of Research Computing and Shared Environments
From authentication and onboarding to infrastructure management and support, research computing at Cornell depends on a network of shared services and partnerships. Rich Knepper and Scott Yoest will lead a discussion exploring the opportunities and challenges of creating effective shared computing environments that support researchers across the university.
Wait, That Counts as Professional Development? Join Workforce Readiness for an IT Learning Exchange.
Participants in this interactive exchange will explore both traditional and non-traditional approaches to learning, including mentoring, conferences, podcasts, stretch assignments, job shadowing, and peer-to-peer learning. Facilitated by Debra Howell and Beth Goelzer, the session encourages participants to exchange ideas, discover available resources, and identify professional development opportunities they can pursue after the event.
Join the Conversations to Help Drive Internal Innovation
Together, these sessions highlight an important aspect of the Emerging Tech Dialogues: innovation isn't only about new technology. It is also about improving services, building skills, strengthening collaboration, and creating a shared vision for the future. Whether participants are helping define an exceptional service experience, exploring the future of research computing, or discovering new ways to grow professionally, they will have opportunities to contribute ideas that support a more connected, collaborative, and effective future for Information Technology at Cornell.
